The Association for Innovation and Development of FCT (NOVA.ID.FCT) is a private non-profit organisation created by the initiative of five associated institutions. Its main partner is the Faculty of Sciences and Technology (FCT), founded in 1977, one of the nine schools of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA). NOVA.ID.FCT acts as the legal front institution of multiple research units, from different scientific fields, carrying out research work and managing financial and administratively R&D&I projects. NOVA.ID.FCT promotes and facilitates scientific research, technology and development services to society; organizes qualified human resources training and consulting expertise and knowledge dissemination and technology transfer.
The Biochemical Engineering (BIOENG) group at FCT/NOVA is the participant research group and is devoted to develop high quality scientific research (both fundamental and applied) in the areas of Environmental and Industrial Biotechnology with main focus on: Wastewater Treatment Processes, Anaerobic Digestion, Micropollutants, Biological Nutrient Removal and Recovery; Greenhouse Gas Emissions; Production and Characterisation of Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), Microbial Polysaccharides and Bulk Chemicals.
Role in Watintech: NOVA.ID.FCT will lead WP 4, studying the impact of sewer mining on WWTP optimisation.
